little blessings

I think that noticing the little things in life are so important
If we pass them by we are missing so many sweet little blessings

like....

enjoying a some wonderful gelato on a warm fall day
or
watching the sun setlooking at your baby sister (who isn't so baby anymore) sleeping on your lap
or
walking through the woods on a beautiful fall day
being able to see the miracle of leaves changing and the beauty that is in thatbeing able to have candles flickering away as i crochet and sip on tea, i.love.it.
or
having a charlie brown pumpkin at the front door to greet me every time i come home
or
sweet baby faces
have two able hands so that i can creategetting my great great grandmas sewing kitbeing able to sit around and enjoy the first game of the winnipeg jets
or
enjoy some wonderful pumpkin pie at thanksgiving
what a blessing to be able and privileged enough that i am able to go to school and as a result have home... if only i could always view it that way
enjoy each moment
live in each moment

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, Eh!

It's hard to believe that it is Thanksgiving already.
This year has flown past me!
As Thanksgiving has been approaching I have been think about what I am thankful for.
  • my family - there have been a few health scares over the past few years and each year I am so thankful that each member of my family is still apart of my life.
  • friends - though there is now great physical distance between a lot of my friends and i am still so thankful that each of them have been apart of my life. they have encouraged me, challenged me, and loved me.
  • Canada - i love being able to live where i do. it is such a blessing to have the freedom we do, live in such a beautiful country, and be able to proudly say i am Canadian eh!
  • a place to live, a job, school, food, car, clothing, an able body, church family, and salvation through Jesus.
I really have so much to be thankful for and there is so much that I do take for granted, being able to reflect is humbling and much needed.

So from me to you,Blessings,
Amber

recap

So last weekend Clint and I were at a wedding. It was lots of fun and good to hang out with friends again.
We are not 'dress up' sorta people but it was fun to spiff it up a bit. One of our friends bought a ukelilli before the wedding so in between the ceremony and reception we were having fun with the tail gate open and the tunes a flowing.Since we were back at Clint place we got to see the kiddos again. My heart smiles when I get to see them. Fitting all five of them into one picture doesn't really work though.
And the best way to end a fantastic fall evening?? Bonfire of course. The summer was so dry so fires were few and far between. So it was a fantastic treat! memories made, laughs laughed, all was great!

Amber

some crafting

I haven't been doing a whole lot of crafting lately but once the weather gets cooler and the snow starts flying I will be doing it a lot more.

One of my friends had a birthday and so I made her a little hoop art. She saw my keep it simple hoop art so I made her one of her very own with her decor colors.
And here is her birthday card.Blessings,

on my mind

When I'm not working or reading for my one and only class
I love to walk around our campus.
It is so beautiful!
We have a creek running through and there are lots of trees and wildlife.Amongst all the hustle and bustle of life it is so nice to be still and enjoy
the beauty that God has created for us. I far to often take for granted
that I live in such a peaceful place. I often complain about
be so far away from everyone, or that its cold in the winter but
I need to be still and be content.
So many people have come and gone while I have been here and its hard.
I have kinda given up on going out to meet new people because I know that in 7 months time we will most likely live far away form each other.
Its hard having your best friends scattered from coast to coast. But maybe this is God teaching me to draw near to him.
I am not alone.
He is always with me, even when I feel alone.So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

punkin soup recipe

I love making a nice warm soup on a chilly fall day.
One of my favorites right now is punkin' soup!!

what you need:

1 med. onion
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
3 med. carrots
2 cups cubed pumpkin
3 cups veggie broth (you can use chicken if you wish, but being a vegetarian i opt for the veggie)
2 bay leaves
2 tsp ginger
2 tsp cumin
1 tbsp curry

what you do:

heat up the oil on med heat and add in the onion and garlic.
once the onions are softened add in the carrots, pumpkin, all the seasonings, and broth.
bring everything to boil and let it simmer for a half hour or so.
take a little taste and see if you need some salt and pepper.
take out the bay leaves.
scoop the soup into a blender, you may need to do this in smaller batches.
blend it all up and put it back in the pot.
bring it back up to a simmer for a little while.
serve and enjoy!

What are some of your favorite soups?

Blessings,
Amber
