i {heart} owls - 5

Good day lovelies!

The sun is shining here and the snow is melting! What could be better? Ooo I know, entering my giveaway here.

I know I missed last weeks i {heart} owls because I was just far to overwhelmed with school work. This week I don't have my camera because I forgot it in Clint's truck but I will show you some very lovely owls that I {heart}!

I came across this lovely print out calender at my owl barn and I am so happy that I found them! There are so many wonderful owls to choose from it is just so hard to pick 12. I have my lovely owls hanging up on some twin with little cloths pins (if I had my camera I would show you).

What are some of your favorite thing to collect?

Amber

25 by 25 Update

Good day lovelies!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I know I did. I had plans on posting pics of the weekend and sharing but I forgot my camera in Clint's truck so that will be another day.

You may have seen up in my tab bar that one is titled '25 by 25' you can read about it here. I have slowly been working on a few of those goals. Over the winter I have been working on granny squares, they are just the easiest things to make and I'm hoping to turn them into a lovely afgan.

Aren't those colours just the most beautiful?! I just love them! I laid them out so I could bask in their beauty. I also wanted to see how much I had, the total is 88 thus far. I have a feeling that I won't make them for a while since it is now spring and crocheting is just not really a spring or summer pass time but who knows.

Also I have a question for ya. How do you put the squares together? If you know any good tutorials or something let me know please. I would really appreciate it.

Blessings,
Amber

warning: very random post

Hello hope all you lovelies are having a fabulous week!

1. You know when you stumble upon something that you just love and want to share? Well that's what I did today. I found this lovely print here!

I have been bogged down with so much homework, reading, classes, applying for jobs and trying to stay sane through it all. I need to remember that it will all be ok, life will go on and that I need to count my blessing and rejoice!

2. I got bangs!

See real straight across bangs!! Love, like, hate?? What do you think?? (I love my friends)

3. I only have:
  • one and a half books to read
  • paper to go along with the said books that have to be read
  • personal philosophy paper
  • history research paper
  • class reflection paper
My mountains is slowly becoming a hill (I finished four papers this week WOO!)

4. Only 24 more sleeps until I get to see my Clint E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y for four months! (His parents have so generously opened up their home to me for the summer in between school)

5. I did some thrifting.. hopefully I can show you my lovely finds soon! I was/am pretty pumped about them. The lovely friends I was shopping with were like, "That is SO Amber" I like that I have my own style or what ever it is because I often feel like I just blend in with everyone else.

6. I need to keep reading my books and YOU should enter my giveaway!

Amber

the creative side

Hello again lovelies! Hope everyones day is going splendidly!

Don't forget to enter my 'moving away giveaway'.

I shared about some sewing I did this weekend. Well I'm going to show you what I was talking about.
I was itching for a new wallet but being a student I didn't have any money in the one I owned so I decided to make one. What's the worst that could have happened? I have dabbled with sewing but thought I'll only get better if I keep sewing. I found the tutorial for this wallet here. I'm going to be honest its a little confusing, but that is probably because I am not pro at sewing yet (I also hate measuring but I did my best for this).

One side of my card pockets is to small so I have coffee club cards and bubble tea card that are made of card stock in those ones. Also this was my first ever zipper! Very exciting for me! When I was younger I always let my mom put zippers in things I was making.

I topped it with a fabric flower and vintage button that was my great grandma's. So special to me. I have her old tin of buttons. I love just looking through them.

So this was my big accomplishment this weekend, papers didn't get done but I have a new wallet. I have also got complements on it so i guess it's not to shabby.

Blessings,
Amber

my wonderful weekend

Hello lovelies!

I hope that you had an amazing weekend, I know I did.

Friday

After my classes on Friday I went with some friends to the local thrift store, they had never been there! I of course needed to bring them! It was fun and actually ended up being a bag sale day. Woo Hoo! Later on in the day I did some sewing (more to come on that). I stopped for a bit and got together with some girls to watch, You Again.
We ate popcorn and laughed a lot, such fun! You Again is the cheesiest movie but great at the same time, perfect for watching with the girls.

Saturday

Woke up bright and early to head into the city to see my mama. The half way point between where we both live is the city so its the perfect place to meet. Started off my day with Starbucks, then we headed to the mall where they were having a flee market sale. We walked around for so long looking at every little thing. My mom bought a beautiful painting from a dutch artist, she had found another one from the same artist in a local thrift store a little while ago. I would have bought nearly everything but I didn't because I don't have the space nor the money to be able to do so. We went around doing some shopping at different places around the mall then headed to a thrift store and found a few goodies. For lunch I brought my mom to my favorite sushi place, she loved it!

Sunday

*I wore a spring dress which made me so happy because I haven't been able to do that for months* With spring dress on and unshaved legs I headed to church, I haven't been to my church in a few weeks because I have been away for the weekends but I caught the last message of a series on Ruth. It was a really great service. After the service some friends and I headed to the city. Ryan's family was coming out to watch the choir he is in perform so they asked if I could bring him in. We went out for lunch and had a great time catching up with each other. Kristi and I headed back to Prov and i got there right after my Clinty got there! We hung out with some friends, played games, and went for sushi. It was such a great day!

{Bananagrams, such a fun game!}

My weekend was busy but full of fun and blessings. I realized this morning that I didn't take any pictures. Unfortunately my camera has been acting up so I don't really being it with me to much any more. It drives me bonkers because I love taking pictures of EVERYTHING!

I'm linking up at Heather's.

Blessings,

Amber

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!

Hello everyone!

I would please ask that anyone who prays to please join in prayer with me now.

I have a very dear friend Mark who is a medical mystery right now. The doctors have no idea what is wrong with him and it is a race against time.

Let me introduce you to Mark. He and I go back a several years we first met while working at a bible camp for summer and our friendship has grown since then. We are now attending the same Christian University and our friendship has been growing.
{mark, beth, myself}

Mark a 22 year old with a heart of gold. He is the type of guy who cares for everyone, he notices the people that others try not to notice. He has a warm heart and gentle spirit. Christ's love shines through him in unimaginable ways. He is the guy that everyone loves because that is the only thing you can do. He is one of the most amazing friends you could ask for.

Nearing the end of February Mark started feeling some pain in this stomach, he thought nothing of it because the flu was going around. As time went on his pain got worse, it was so bad that you could see it on his face. If you know Mark this is not good if you can tell he is in pain. So he went to the clinic and was told to monitor his pain. The next day he went back and told them he could not handle this any longer. So March 1 he was admitted into the hospital.
Since then all they have been able to figure out is that he has a lung infection and that his spleen and liver and inflamed and enlarged. Within the last two days his kidneys have started to fail as well as his lungs. There are three specialist working on his case and they are consulting other specialists. None of them are able to figure out what the cause of all this is.

So please join with me and pray for healing and comfort for Mark and his family. Pray for the doctors that are on his case and that they would be able to figure this thing out.

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
Matthew 17:20

yummy banana muffins

Happy day lovelies!

While at Clint's place this past week a cold has been going around and now it has come to me. All week in order to try and avoid getting the cold I have been living off peppermint tea with honey and echinacea.
I felt like I was getting the cold all week but then it would go away for a day or two but now I think I have it. Oh well, bring on the tea!

I did a little bit of baking this weekend before having to head back to school. I love baking! So I made some yummy banana muffins.

Yummy Recipe!

3 bananas mushed up

1.5 cups sugar

.5 cup oil

..........

the answer to my question: lattes!

Hello lovelies!

Why am I still up?? It is 12:16 and I wish to be sleeping, however I cannot. This evening consisted of going out for supper with Clint, his parents and two of his sisters. We then proceeded to gas the truck up before the prices rise yet again. I was craving some coffee goodness so we made a pit stop over at Johnny's Java for wonderful vanilla latte.

The only problem with this is that by this time it was after seven. With latte in hand we headed off to watch the AWANA grad prix, Clint's nephews were racing their cars or should I say they were racing a carrot and a piggy! So cute, unfortunately I don't have any pictures. But Dylan's pig won third place for design, it was pretty darn tutting cute!

Ah! It's 12:27 I am still wide eyed! I am also fighting a cold so sleep is needed (if anyone knows any natural remedies to fight off a cold please share) and I have a breakfast date with Clint's mama in the morning so I would like to not be yawning all morning!

Note to self: Don't drink yummy lattes in the evening!

After the grand prix Clint and I headed up town to buy his nephew a birthday present... we will be partying it up tomorrow night because Aiden is turning 6! Woo hoo! (funny thing Clint's oldest nephew is the same age as my youngest sister SO CRAZY)

Well it is now 12:37 I am going to try and turn my brain off and close my eyes before morning comes.

Blessings,
Amber

as i promised

Happy Wednesday!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous day today. The snow is melting and the sun is shining, woo hoo!! I went out today because I have been hearing rumors that gas prices are going up.. again! So i filled up and popped on over to the thrift store. While there I ran into one of my friends from school. She is just the sweetest, always smiling and laughing. I can't help but do the same when I'm with her. While at the thrift store I found a few goodies, I will try and post some pictures later. Speaking of pictures I promised to show you the pictures of my boyfriend with the moose mug I got him for his birthday.
{so pumped}
{going for the bush man look}
{this one makes me smile}
He is just the cutest! I kinda want to steal his mug, it's so big and just the perfect size to wrap my hands around. That's it for today. Need to get my butt in gear and do some paper writing before Clint gets home, I'm hoping we can go out for a walk and enjoy the meltingness... maybe get a snowball or two in as well.

Amber

this, that and a recipe

Hello lovelies and a warm welcome if this is your first time stopping by!

As I have mentioned before I am on reading week I have piles of papers and books around me and so many open word tabs. Unfortunately, I am not very good at staying on task.
My list of things to do this week:
  • field education paper
  • social science & Christianity reflection
  • western civilization discussion paper
  • anthropology of music, music review
  • make my resume (it got deleted from my computer, such a sad sad day when I realized that)
  • read In Praise of Doubt by Peter Berger
Out of this list I have finished my field ed paper, started my resume (so hard finding contact numbers and remember dates, ugh), and started social science reflection paper. Slowly but surely it will get finished, because it has to!

I gave my Clint his birthday present and he LOVES it! He was showing it off to everyone. I bought him a wonderful mug from Appleware Pottery it is such a lovely Etsy shop! My dear Clinty is at work right now so I'm using it... tee hee...
{hello cute moose} {show case the cuteness}

{i liked my hair so here's me}

I made some lovely iced English toffee coffee. Yummy! It is so easy peasy to make.
  • crushed ice (sometimes i make coffee ice cubes so that my coffee doesn't get watered down)
  • cold coffee (left overs from the morning works great)
  • splash of flavoring in this case English toffee
Put ice in the mug, splash the flavoring on top, pour coffee over it all, then enjoy!
Clint wanted to take pictures with his mug, I will post those later. He is just so stinking cute and hilarious! You will see.

Amber

i {heart} owls - 3

Hello lovlies!

The sun is shining here I hope it is shining where ever you may be. Today's I {heart} owls owl is from a thrifting adventure I had a while back. I found this lovely White Owl cigar box, I really know nothing about cigars but the boxes are great. They are the perfect size to hold odds and ends. I love how old it is too. I think I will be using little owl box for holding some of my sewing stuff.

Also I would like to send out big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my wonderful Grandma. This is a picture of the whole fam jam. Have a happy happy birthday Grandma.

happy birthday my love

Happy Monday lovelies!

Today is a special day, why? Well if my title doesn't give it away today is my boyfriends birthday! We celebrated on Saturday and had lots of fun! He is getting his present later today once he is home from work. (It is reading week for me this week and so I'm chilling out with him and the fam all week. The best way to spend the week by far... I may have some homework that will need to get done sometime in between too.)
So for his birthday I made two 'option' cards.
{options 1&2}
Both cards had a place we would eat and something we would get to do.
{option card # 1}
The first option was to go to Mongo's, such a yummy place to eat and lots of fun too because you get to make your our stir fry and watch it get cooked. After diner we would have to option of going to a movie... of Clint's choice! Clint is so great and lets me pick the movies most of the time but since it was his birthday I would let him pick.

{option # 2}
Second option was to go out for sushi at our favorite sushi spot, yummy! Then we would go skating, but we live in Manitoba so there has to be a back up plan in case its to cold or windy. So there was also the option of going to a glow in the dark mini golf course. It's dino themed and so much fun!

Clint opened the cards and picked.......... option # 1!! Woo! So we hopped in the truck and headed to the city. I took some goofy pictures on the way, the city is a little over an hour away.
{my glamor shot}
{so pleased}
I was trying to get pictures of us while driving, (I know, not the smartest idea) Clinty kept telling me that he had to keep his eyes on the road, such a good driver! But I snatched this one while he was looking.
{handsom birthday boy}
Gush! I love him!So we got to the city and went for supper. It was his first time going to Mongo's and he loved it! It may become a regular spot for us. After creating our yummy stir fries we headed to the theater. Clint was really pumped because he was really wanting to watch...

I had to laugh because there were families with young kiddos all around us, then us a twenty something couple. We are kids at heart. It was a really good movie, but I wouldn't advise it for kids. At times I wanted to cover all the kids eyes and ears for them. (Click here for a Chrsitian movie review). After the movie we picked up some french vanilla capps for the drive home, of course they were roll up the rim from Tim Hortons, and Clint won a donut. So exciting! I'm 0-4 for this season of roll up the rim.

That was our Saturday evening. Lots of fun!

Blessings,
Amber

Motions

Happy Sunday!

I love Sunday, it is probably one of my favorite days of the week. Sunday is the day to relax and enjoy. I like to be able to not let the hustle and bustle life get in the way on Sunday. I really enjoy going to church as well. Why do I enjoy it so much? Well I like being challenged, don't get me wrong some times the sermon is not always some thing I want to hear but some times it exactly what I need to hear so. For myself I find it is so important to be constantly seeking to be more like Christ and that is what church does for me, it gets me to check myself. Sometimes I get overwhelmed because I am human and fallen, I cannot be perfect. At the same time I would rather keep falling down than to fake that I have it all together. I don't want to pretend that my life is perfect, I want to be real. I really like the way Matthew Wests song Motions ties it all together.

This might hurt
It’s not safe
But I know that I’ve gotta make a change
I don’t care
If I break
At least I’ll be feeling something
‘Cause just ok
Is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of life

I don’t wanna go through the motions
I don’t wanna go one more day
Without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don’t wanna spend my whole life asking
What if I had given everything?
Instead of going through the motions

No regrets
Not this time
I’m gonna let my heart defeat my mind
Let Your love
Make me whole
I think I’m finally feeling something

Take me all the way
Take me all the way
Take me all the way

This song is so real. When ever it comes on when I'm listening to music, I always feel convicted to live I life that honors Christ. I truly do not want to just go through the motions.

Amber

Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card

Hello lovely friends.

The time now is 8:43 which means the library closes in one hour and 17 minutes.... I currently have 299 words written on my paper which means I have 1201 more words to go. That really is not a whole lot but I am really not a paper writer. Third year of school and in the home stretch. April 15th is going to come so fast! Anyways, to break my paper writing boredom (and paper writing concentration) I took some lovely pictures of me 'writing' and being oh so 'studious'. (side note: BENNY GUESS WHAT!!!! The library has a huge Coke display in the glass case things, just thought you should know... I would have taken a picture but i didn't want to bring my laptop there... that would just be weird and you know I'm not weird HAHA!)

So yes this is me in the library clearly I am working hard, you may have also noticed that I have head phones in well that is because I am listening to the wonderful new album of the wonderful miss Adele.
Go give her a little listen, you will love her! I promise!

The time now 9:08 which means I have 52 more minutes left in the library to get this paper done. Word count... still 299.

Blessings

i {heart} owls - 2 + a winner!

Hello lovelies! Hope you are all able to be cozy and warm today wherever you may be, today I am freezing, there is some crazy winds blowing across the prairies today. But as I write this I am drinking my Timmy's cap, it is roll up the rim to win season, hope I actually win :) that would be lovely! Speaking of winning, I have a winner for the note book giveaway! I pulled the name out of my lovely mug and the winner is .......... Amber from The Pless Press! You should go give her a visit, she is getting married soon, so you can congratulate her.

I will be emailing you right away Amber. Thanks everyone for entering and I will be having more giveaways so stick around.

Also today is Tuesday which means its I {heart} owls day! I get to share my lovely owl collection with you all. Today's owl come from my lovely boyfriend, he knows my love for owls and allows me to indulge in it. The other weekend Clints nephews, sisters and I were crafting with modeling clay foam stuff it is really weird but neat anyways, Clint was drawing in his sketch book and drew me a lovely owl. It makes me laugh!

This is Ron the accountant owl, he is just so hilarious! Clint said that I should get it framed, however it is a very odd size drawing so finding a frame is difficult. It's so cute that on his desk there is a flower and picture frame, then all his tax stuff on the other side. The writing in the top corner says 'to Amber who I like to spend time with' haha so sweet and simple.

I guess this lovely little accountant isn't as busy this tax season as all the other accountants because he is sitting there rubbing his belly. And look at his little legs, so funny! Ah! This lovely owl brings a smile to my face! I love it, thank you Clint for drawing it for me!

Blessings,

Amber
